Money Pools are an easy and fast way to collect money with friends. Whether you need to raise money for a holiday, a group gift, or for regular shared expenses, just create a pool and share it with your friends and family. Please note that you are responsible for spending the money collected for the purpose set out in your pool's page.
Your friends can chip in in seconds. If they don’t have a PayPal account, they can set up one in minutes – sign-up is free and easy!
How do I create a Money Pool?
You’ll need a PayPal account, so if you don’t have one yet, sign-up is easy and free.
- Look for the 'Money Pools' module on your Summary page.
- Click Start Collecting.
- Follow the instructions provided.
Does it cost money to create a Money Pool?
Creating and running a pool is free of charge. PayPal doesn't charge a fee to open a PayPal account.
What kind of PayPal account do I need?
Money Pools are available to personal account holders. At this time, pools are not available for Business account holders.
How do I access the pool after I created it?
You will see your pool on the left side of the Summary page. After you click on Details, you’ll be taken to a page with all your existing pools.
Can I use Money Pools on my mobile device?
Yes, you can access and manage your pools directly from your mobile device.

Do I need a bank account, debit card, or credit card to set up my pool?
No, you only need a PayPal Personal account. If you want to transfer the money you receive, just add a bank account to your PayPal account.
Can I use a Money Pool to collect money from customers?
No. Money Pools are used to collect money from friends and family. All the contributions you receive through your pool are considered personal payments and so they’re not eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection and all contributions taken must be in line with the PayPal User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy.

How can I report a Money Pool link that violates PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy?
If you come across any Money Pool which contains inappropriate or offensive content in a title, description, or imagery, you should report that to us.
- View the Money Pool that has the suspected violation.
- Go to the bottom of the page and click Report this Pool.
