How do I receive money through PayPal?

With PayPal, you receive money when someone pays to your email address or mobile number. Once that happens, we’ll send you a message letting you know you have money available.

To accept the money, you must open a PayPal accountconfirm your email address, and confirm a Visa credit card or a US bank account.

To add an additional layer of confidence when receiving payment, we now provide the sender of funds the option to share a link directly with the recipient that the recipient can use to access and redeem their money.

You can access the money you receive on your PayPal account home page. On the first day of every month, your available balance is transferred automatically to the Visa card or US bank account that you selected. This automatic transfer is free. You can also withdraw payments from your available balance at any time.

Here's how to turn on automatic transfers:

  1. Click Wallet at the top of the page.
  2. Click on the Visa card or bank account you want to use for Automatic Transfers.
  3. Click Update under "Automatic Transfers".
  4. Follow the instructions on screen.
