What's an FIRC certificate? How do I request one for my PayPal withdrawals?
An FIRC (Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate) is a document which acts as a testimonial for all the inward remittances and payments received in India from abroad. Most statutory authorities in India accept this document as proof that an individual/business (such as a limited company, partnership firm, or sole proprietorship firm) has received a payment in foreign currency from outside the country. For every transfer from your PayPal account to your bank account that includes funds from an international payment, you need to prepare a separate FIRC certificate.
How do I request for an FIRC?
There are two ways to request an FIRC for your PayPal withdrawals. You need to prepare an FIRC request letter with your payment details, and then either send an email request directly to Citibank's FIRC Department, or contact your bank to submit it for you.
Please read the FIRC request intructions to understand the both options and your next steps.
